Reborn: Rise of the Greatest Summoner

Chapter 91 Mission Crazy

Beasts here were either Grade D beasts or higher or Grade E beasts that were freaks of nature just like the Armored Titan Rhinos.

After the narrow escape from the attack of the Armored Titan Rhinos, that same day, Christensen and his beast almost died to the ambush of a Saber-toothed Tiger when they decided to rest to recover from their exhaustion.

Leo was injured after the harrowing battle but the Saber-toothed Tiger was forced to retreat. Every other encounter like this almost led to their deaths.

They were never the hunters, they were always the hunted.

It got so bad that they could never kill meat to eat here, they either fed themselves by hunting for fish in the nearby cold sea where even some fish proved deadly or by returning to the forest in the island to hunt.

More than once, Christensen was motivated to give up but giving up meant giving up on the beast plane. Since this was the location where he first appeared on coming to the beast plane, it was already set as his default bridge point.

Unless he could fight his way out of this dead zone, he would not be able to locate a green forest in the beast plane where Legolas recommended to get an ideal tracker dog, Christensen was frustrated.

Despite his frustration, he persevered.

The first step to getting out of this snow field was knowing its history and mystery. Christensen decided to start by looking for information.

In an ice field, it was only natural to see Frost Wolves but for the first 2 days, Christensen and Leo searched till they were tired without seeing one.

On the 3rd day, they didn\'t see a Frost Wolf but they rescued a Tibetan Wolf. After a fierce battle with a Grade E Jaguar, this fellow was losing and was about to die when Christensen and Leo bumped into their battlefield.

They rescued the Tibetan Wolf but Christensen was filled with even more questions, Tibetan Wolves live in a variety of ecosystems but they tend to prefer grasslands. Christensen didn\'t know much but at least he knew this.

So what was a Tibetan Wolf doing in this ice field?

He was worried that he would never find an answer to his questions but to his surprise, despite being of different species, Leo and the Tibetan Wolf were able to communicate, the Tibetan Wolf revealed the truth before its death.

After giving it a befitting burial, Christensen weighed the truth. \'Are you f*cking kidding me right now? This is an artificially made ice field?\'

\'Is that even possible?\'

Christensen wanted so badly not to believe it but a hunch told him that the Tibetan Wolf was right. According to the wolf, this ice field was previously a large territory that spanned mountains and grasslands close to the sea.

It turned like this after a great battle between a powerful Grade C Frost Wolf and a Grade C Water Snake over a miraculous fruit.

After a great battle that destroyed a lot of territories, displacing countless beasts from their natural habitat, it ended here with the Frost Wolf\'s victory. Just before the Water Snake died though, it misplaced the fruit, it was stolen.

The catch that caused such a massive battle between 2 powerful Grade C beasts was stolen by a puny Grade D Shadow Hound.

Having tracked the fruit for literally half the world already, this extremely intelligent Hound took advantage of the powerhouses and stole the fruits right under their nose. It consumed it while the Frost Wolf watched in disbelief.

Angered, this Frost Wolf thrashed and caused even more damage, turning the battlefield into this enormous ice field.

The Shadow Hound survived due to its shadow and stealth abilities but it was terribly injured by the Frost Wolf who was still searching for it till now.

Christensen found it hard to believe but he felt that it was the truth. \'If this is the truth, then what should I do?\'

Christensen\'s original conservative personality pushed him to taking the safer route out, but his recent explosive personality brought a crazy idea. \'For Grade C beasts to be so crazy about it, this fruit must be hella good\'.

\'What if I make the Shadow Hound my 2nd contracted beast? Afterall, it is good at tracking…\'

Smack!

Christensen barely finished before he wacked himself on the face. "What the f*ck are you thinking? You want to die?"

Christensen took deep breaths to calm himself down then he thought again. \'But master always said, without pain, there\'s no gain\'.

\'Damn!\' He cursed in his mind.

No matter how much he tried to rationalize it, Christensen knew that it was purely out of greed that he now wanted this Shadow Hound.

He no longer shied from it though, he embraced it. "Well, I accept it, I\'m greedy so what? I\'m still gonna get that f*cking Shadow Hound!"

Whoosh!

Caught up in his inner thoughts, Christensen was unaware when an enemy snuck behind him. As he felt the cold wind blowing beside his neck, Christensen felt goosebumps as adrenaline flooded his body.

He was reluctant to die. \'I can\'t die!\' He screamed in his mind.

It took all the mettle that he gained from his training to react on time. Blood flowed as a deep cut was made through the back of his neck by an invisible enemy, he was lucky since if it went just an inch deeper, he was a dead man.

Christensen gritted his teeth in pain before rolling forward as blood flowed, he looked but saw no one. \'An invisible enemy?\'

"Awoo!" Leo finally noticed the attack as he sprang up and howled loudly.

It didn\'t know where to attack though, the enemy was invisible.

Whoosh!

Christensen\'s eyes widened as an attack came from directly his front this time. He activated his combat master ability instinctively as he was able to barely parry the attack, he felt a pair of sharp claws digging into his flesh.

\'A beast!\' Christensen\'s eyes shone as his left hand moved with speed.

Having lost his swords already when fighting the Rhinos, his only option was what Legolas left for him. His left hand smoothly retrieved one of the G-96 Pistols as he rapidly aimed and pulled the trigger.

Bam!

Blood flowed and the enemy was finally exposed.

A whimper sounded as briefly, the enemy left its invisible state.

It was a grey Hound with such arrogant and confident eyes that seemed to look down on every other organism in the world except itself.

Christensen\'s eyes widened in shock. "Is that the Shadow Hound?!"

Whoosh!

Having failed in its quest to get food already, the Hound went invisible again before going on the run but its blood gave away its position this time.

Christensen dared not tarry as he quickly drank a healing potion that his master made some time ago. "Leo, let\'s go after it".

The Hound gritted its teeth amid its pain and snorted. "You think you can catch me, I\'ve eluded powerhouses that are a hundred times stronger than you".

Just 6 minutes later though, the Hound was left swallowing its words. Despite taking care of its blood already, the human and his wolf were still hot on his tail.

Christensen had never been as concentrated as he was now as his exclusive special talent showed its merit now. The Hound\'s arrogant snorts of disdain, it\'s breathing, it\'s smell, Christensen located it through all these.

The Hound was shocked but it dared not stop, if it lingered too much in the surface, it would attract its greatest enemy, it had no choice but to go to its hideout.

Christensen and Leo jumped after it into the cave.

All light was cut off from inside the cave but before the Hound could make a move, Christensen smoothly lit up a fire in the cave.

"No need, I\'m a master chef, lighting fire is one of my specialties".

"Woof!" The grey Hound barked as all its hair stood on end.

The next moment, on seeing Christensen keeping his distance, he sighed and calmed down. "What do you want?"

"Nothing, I just want to negotiate". Christensen replied with a bright smile.

While he spoke, he secretly clicked a button that was hidden on his clothes.
